CE Workshop for Mental Health Professionals

Ethical challenges are inherent in clinical practice. In addition to adhering to professional codes of ethics, clinicians need both internal and external resources, along with restorative practices, to strengthen ethical awareness, support sound judgment, and cultivate safeguards for ethical practice.

This workshop offers a unique contemplative approach to the ethical challenges that arise in clinical work. Participants will identify a current ethical challenge and, throughout the workshop, engage in an innovative reflective process to explore the specific vulnerabilities, conditions, and strengths relevant to that situation.

Participants will learn Reflective Meditation, a contemplative practice that combines meditation and inquiry. Exploration of the Buddhist principles of Conditionality and the Eightfold Path will deepen understanding of the conditions that contribute to ethical vulnerability while offering practical insights for ethical awareness and decision-making.

Learning Objectives:
  • Apply Reflective Meditation and freeform writing to deepen understanding of their own ethical landscape.
  • Identify a current ethical challenge relevant to their professional practice.
  • Recognize and reduce conditions that contribute to ethical vulnerabilities and challenges, including issues related to professional boundaries, confidentiality, dual relationships, and mandatory reporting.
  • Identify and strengthen personal qualities, practices, and conditions that reduce the risk of ethical transgressions.
  • Develop an introductory understanding of the Buddhist principles of Conditionality and the Eightfold Path and their relevance to ethical decision-making.
  • Use Reflective Meditation as a practice for self-care and as an ongoing ethical safeguard.
  • Adopt an adaptation of the ACA Code of Ethics as workshop agreements.
Join us in this transformative workshop to develop ethical insight and personal/professional growth. Limited spots available for a more personalized learning experience.

Cost: The workshop is offered at three price points: $245, $195, and three slots are available at $145 for students, interns, or those who are financially challenged.
