Unlocking the world of reading: A comprehensive workshop 1-Day Virtual Workshop
May 15, 2026 9:00am-3:00pm (Pacific Time)
The Science of Reading has provided a body of research that explains how individuals learn to read and best practices for reading instruction. This workshop will synthesize that evidence, break-down why some students have challenges learning to read, discuss specific strengths and stretches that students with ASD may present with, and present research-backed instruction that teachers can incorporate into their classroom to support reading development for ALL students at the Tier I level.
*Please note that the focus of this workshop is Tier I (universal classroom-based supports) that are meant to be beneficial for ALL students. Some students, with and without ASD, will require more intensive and individualized supports. We hope to provide that as a focus in future workshops.
Audience: This training is directed toward employees of BC school districts and independent schools. This includes teachers, paraprofessionals, and other educational staff supporting students with ASD at any grade level (K-12) in developing their social, academic, and adaptive skills.
