PATRIOT CAMP 2026 WILL FOCUS ON THE TIME FROM WASHINGTON'S 1ST ELECTION THROUGH JUST BEFORE MADISON'S PRESIDENCY (1789-1808) which includes the Bill of Rights, expnasion into the NW Territory, the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis & Clark Expedition, the creation of 5 new states, Slater's Spiining Mill, Whitney's Cotton Gin, Fulton's Steamship, canal building, ending of the international slave trade in America, the presidencies of Washington, Adams, & Jefferson, the appointment of John Marshall as the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and important court cases.
Thankfully, our teachers are very experienced with teaching different age groups and always adjust the curriculum accordingly.
Our 9th annual Patriot Camp is designed for elementary aged students entering Grades 1 - 6 in Fall 2026. WE DO OUR BEST TO PLACE YOUR CHILD IN THEIR GRADE, BUT AS MORE REGISTRATIONS ARE COMPLETED, YOUR CHILD MAY BE PLACED IN A GRADE HIGHER OR LOWER THAN THEIR OWN. If this occurs, the Director will contact you to determine what's best for your child.
Your child will stay with one group throughout the morning, and each group has an adult Group Leader (GL) and 2 Group Leader Assistants (GLA's). All volunteers over 18 y/o have a Background Check on file, and the teens assisting as GLA's as well as those helping in Games & Crafts are under the supervision of the adult volunteers.
Once signed in on the first day, parents are asked to bring their children to the class lines and to give your child's name to the GLA's for that class. We also ask that parents pick up children after closing in the dining hall or library accessed thru the courtyard. Be sure to sign out you child with the GLA!
IF YOU HAVE ALTERNATE ADULTS PICKING UP YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN, BE SURE TO LIST THOSE ON THE REGISTRATION FORM WITH THEIR PHONE NUMBERS, TOO. PLEASE TELL YOUR CHILD'S GROUP LEADER WHO WILL BE THE ALTERNATE PICK-UP THAT DAY!
After your child goes to his/her class line, each morning begins with an Opening Ceremony where the Pledge of Allegiance is recited & the National Anthem is sung. This is followed by other songs related to this year's curriculum and then a Guest Speaker. After this, the children rotate through Games, Crafts, Snacks, and 3 Learning Stations. Each class has a different schedule for each day. Children then re-assemble on their class lines, and camp ends with a Closing Ceremony.
If your child has special dietary needs, please contact the Camp Director, Linda Middlekauff.
A MEMORY CHALLENGE is also given to our campers, and this year's will be the Bill of Rights. We'll use a very simple version which will be practiced during Snack Time. Campers in Grades 1 & 2 will learn the first 5 amendments, & Grades 3-6 will learn all 10. I'll be sending parents of registered campers a copy of this shortened version so that you can help them learn at home, too!
This will be such an exciting time for both your children and all of us who volunteer at Patriot Camp! We can't wait!!!
Please contact me anytime with your questions or concerns.
