Shop and Share, started in 2008 by First Lady Jane Beshear, is a one-day goods drive that benefits Kentucky’s 15 domestic violence shelters. Shop and Share continued in 2016 under the sponsorship of current First Lady, Glenna Bevin.

On Shop and Share Day, volunteers at Kroger stores provide shoppers with a list of items needed at the shelters – such as non-perishable foods, school supplies, hygiene products and cleaning supplies. Shoppers can then purchase and directly donate the items in the stores (they are also able to make monetary donations).

Since its beginning in 2008, Shop and Share has raised more than $5.2 million in goods and monetary donations for shelters. In 2019, shoppers at more than 120 Kroger and other grocery stores across Kentucky donated $590,000 in supplies and funds.

Organizational partners for Shop & Share include the First Lady’s Office, KCADV, Kroger, Food City, Super Dollar stores, IGA, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, the Girl Scouts of Wilderness Road Council, and the Kentucky Drug Court.

Donations collected in Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, and Shelby Counties benefit The Center for Women and Families.
