Understanding the Individual Education Plan (IEP)
Virtual 1-hour POPARD Family School Liaison Workshop
October 1, 2024 3:30pm-4:30pm (Pacific Time)

The Individual Education Plan (IEP) is an important tool to support students with disabilities and diverse needs in schools across the province. This session will support understanding of the new Competency Based IEP (CB-IEP) which utilizes the principles of inclusion, student agency and responsive planning. The session will provide:
  • a brief review of BC’s redesigned curriculum as it relates to the CB- IEP
  • discussion on the evolution of IEP frameworks used across BC districts and why the competency-based framework is now utilized.
  • roles and responsibilities of the school team, parents/caregivers, and students in CB-IEP development
  • resources and tips to support parent engagement in IEP planning.
  • a walk-through example of developing a CB-IEP
About this Workshop:
  • Presented via Zoom (the Zoom link will be in your confirmation email - if you don't see a confirmation email, check your junk/spam folder)
  • Audience: This training is primarily intended for parents and families of students who are on the Autism spectrum, however educators and other professionals may attend
  • This FREE 1-hour workshop will include 45 minutes of content and 15 minutes of Q&A
