Event Details
The Polyvagal PLAYtime workshop offers an experiential introduction to the P.L.A.Y. methodology—Pause, Listen, Activate, Yield—a framework blending polyvagal theory with creative expression, music, movement, and relational play. Grounded in trauma-responsive care, this program invites participants to explore nervous system regulation, co-regulation, and relational repair through embodied practices.

This is not a performance space—it’s a practice space. Together, we will engage in playful neural exercises that cultivate safety, curiosity, and joy. Participants will leave with practical tools for integrating play into clinical, educational, and community contexts to support regulation, resilience, and healing.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe how polyvagal theory explains the role of neuroception, play, and co-regulation in nervous system regulation.
  2. Identify at least three embodied practices that support nervous system flexibility and trauma-responsive presence.
  3. Demonstrate how to facilitate one simple play-based activity that fosters relational attunement and safety.
  4. Recognize their own nervous system states and practice at least two strategies for shifting from survival responses to social engagement.
  5. Apply principles of trauma-informed facilitation (choice, consent, collaboration, and safety) when integrating play into professional or personal contexts.
3 hours of SSA Continuing Education Units will be provided.

Please note: This is an interactive experience that includes partner and group activities, reflection, and opportunities for personal sharing. While you always control what you say, you will get the most out of the class if you are ready to open up and connect with others.
