July 23-24, 2019 Train the Trainer Initial (Central)

This Course is for:

1. Eligible RNs seeking DODD certification as an RN Trainer.

2. Non-nurse's (SSAs, Providers, anyone wishing to understand the DODD medication administration program.

3. MAIS Secretary.

4. RN/LPN or current RN trainers wishing to attend Day One as a refresher and/or obtain CEs.

For all others (except RN Trainer candidates) attending Day One (to learn the basics of Medication Administration law and rule-especially designed for providers, SSA’s, or anyone wishing to learn more about the program), Day Two (to learn MAIS for Secretarial access), or both days (if a LPN or RN (RN-NOT seeking to obtain certification) who will be assisting in teaching the Medication Administration program), will require you to proceed and complete the requested information. For eligible RNs seeking DODD certification as a RN trainer: Please read the following carefully, in its entirety, and complete the eligibilty process as requested.

Fill out the screening questionnaire. If you meet eligibility, you will be sent correspondence (email or call) from the RN instructor with instructions regarding completion of the application process. If you are seeking RN Trainer candidacy, please do not select any option other than RN Trainer Candidacy, please. There is no cost for this step in the process.

RN Trainer Candidate Eligibility

RN Trainers are certified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities and thus are eligible to teach Unlicensed DD Personnel (UDDP) the DODD Medication Administration-Category 1 (Prescribed Medications and Health Related Activities), G/J Tube-Category 2 and Insulin and Metabolic Glycemic Injections-Category 3) for certification.

Please understand the importance, expectations and effect of this certification. It is a certification and as such, professionalism and providing quality training with the necessary follow up and timeliness is required. The certification is issued by DODD and should one’s certification be revoked for any reason, it is important to understand that this is reported to the Ohio Board of Nursing. As a RN, you are also prompted to report any state issues revocations when renewing one’s nursing license.

Please review OAC 5123:2-6-04(B)(2)(b), as it is necessary for the RN Trainer candidate to understand the requirements to become/maintain certification. These are requirements that must be met and answered honestly and to the best of your knowledge.

Successful completion of the RN Train the Trainer program requires the RN to:

1. Submit a completed application to the RN Instructor.

2. Attend the entire RN Train the Trainer program.

3. Participate in RN Trainer the trainer program discussions and activities.

4. Successfully complete the post program requirements to demonstrate core knowledge and preparedness for teaching and submit a completed evaluation to the RN Instructor. (provided by RN Instructor)
