Virtual 1-Hour POPARD Family School Liaison Workshop
Tuesday June 1, 2021 3:00pm-4:00pm

Information Session: Understanding Relationships, Personal Safety & Personal Boundaries

We can all take for granted our understanding of relationships, personal safety, and personal boundaries because we can successfully read social cues and we can understand the rules. For an individual on the spectrum, these have to be taught and this can be challenging. Here, we hope to guide you and help keep your child/young person safe and happy.

This workshop will help parents/caregivers and educators/community members to develop a better understanding of:
  • Addressing and summarizing various safety programs
  • Addressing different types of relationships that we have - professional, family, friends, romantic. What are similarities, what are differences?
  • How we can keep ourselves safe and be more aware of boundaries for ourselves and others based on who we are interacting with and what situation we are in
  • Supporting your young person to recognize what is not ok for them and others, and what to do if they have concerns
This FREE 1-hour virtual workshop will include:
  • 45 minutes content
  • 15 minutes Q&A
Presenters: Carlye McCloy-Brown & Chelsea Jelic
Please email the Family School Liaison Team directly if you have any questions: fsl@autismoutreach.ca

Audience: This training is primarily intended for parents and families of students who are on the Autism spectrum, however educators and other professionals may attend.
