Program Information:

Vermont Works for Women is excited to partner with Burlington Technical Center to offer Rosie's Girls AVIATION camp this summer! Girls* in grades 7, 8, 9 in the BTC sending region (Chittenden County schools) are eligible to participate. Camp runs June 16 - June 18, 2025 (Monday - Wednesday) from 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

This camp is ideal for girls* who are interested in the wide variety of career opportunities in aviation and aerospace. If you've ever wondered how an aircraft works, this experience is for you! No previous experience required.

Camp will begin each day at the BTC Aviation Hangar. Activities will happen at the Hangar, as well as neighboring sites (Heritage Aviation, Beta Technologies, and others) that are all within walking distance. Over the course of the week, campers will get an up close look at different aircraft, meet industry leaders, and gain hands-on experience with basic tools and processes of airplane mechanics like air drills, drill bits, riveting, and safety wiring.

Staff will also guide campers through ice breakers, games and the Rosie’s Girls Power Skills curriculum each day. Activities are designed to expand campers' self-confidence, sense of possibility, and connection with one another.

Vermont Flight Academy will provide free, short plane rides for all interested campers on Wednesday June 18th as part of camp. This is completely optional. All participating campers will need to complete a separate, signed waiver. Waivers will be sent once registration is complete. All flights are weather dependent.

*Rosie's Girls welcomes anyone who identifies as a girl regardless of assignment at birth, including non-binary and gender expansive youth who are comfortable in a girl-centered space. Rosie's Girls welcomes youth from diverse backgrounds and also aims to make our programs accessible to economically disadvantaged students.

Important Notes:
