Sharing an Autism Diagnosis with Children and Youth Virtual 1-hour POPARD Family School Liaison Workshop
April 3, 2025(12:00-1:00pm)(PST)
Part of helping children and youth with ASD to increase their self-awareness may be to talk to them about their ASD diagnosis and what this means to them. However, every family context is different—the timing and delivery of talking about the diagnosis with a child is a family decision. This session will:
Provide a review of the research on sharing a diagnosis with a child/youth
Discuss strategies for parents to support the process of sharing
Provide resources that can help families and children with this journey
