Event Details

Zachary Moran Leffakis is a Senior Lecturer of Operations Management at Clemson University. He holds a Ph.D. in Manufacturing Management from the University of Toledo, and both an MBA and BS (Industrial Management) from California University of Pennsylvania. His research papers have been published in journals including OMEGA: The International Journal of Management Science, Journal of Manufacturing Systems, Production Planning and Control, Quality Management Journal and the Journal of Individual Employment Rights. In addition, Dr. Leffakis has published several practitioner articles in the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). His research and industry interests centers on the pragmatic application of operations management in general, and the successful implementation of lean manufacturing systems on the shop-floor more specifically.

One potential reason why businesses fail to realize the intended benefits of lean manufacturing is that operational managers do not recognize the sequential order and contextual conditions in which lean principles, methods, techniques, tools and practices should be implemented on the shop-floor.
Join Dr. Leffakis for this special PDM event to discuss the importance of implementing lean manufacturing correctly in their production processes. Dr. Leffakis will propose a specific practical implementation order of lean manufacturing and then ask attendees to share their real-world applications, experiences and suggestions.
This interactive presentation will engage attendees and encourage them to actively participate in identifying the potential challenges and best operational approaches to implement lean manufacturing in today’s competitive environment. As a result, PDM participants will gain a valuable understanding of lean manufacturing and appreciate the practical knowledge that they can apply in their organization.
