Safety Skills for K-12 Students on the Spectrum: Assessment & Instructional Strategies
POPARD Virtual Half-Day Workshop
April 28, 2025 9:00am-12:00pm (Pacific Time) (for BC School Employees Only)
What common safety skills do students with ASD need to learn? Why and how do you provide explicit instruction on how to be safe? Given that autism covers a spectrum of ability levels, this half-day workshop takes a developmental approach to teaching safety skills. Participants will learn ways to assess safety skills and evidence-based instructional strategies. Case study examples will support participant learning. The workshop will conclude with a review of school safety plans.
Audience: This workshop is for employees of BC School Districts, BC First Nations Schools and BC Independent Schools.
