Supporting Transition Youth and Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Building Awareness, Using Tools and Accessing Resources
This free 4-part series of Autism Professional Development will offer information to raise awareness and skills of those in attendance as well as resources for ongoing skill development of agency staff. Participants will increase understanding of the adolescent and adult with ASD and learn about positive proactive strategies and evidence based practices to support individuals in home, community and employment environments. Participants will be prepared to use the information and resources for immediate implementation, team planning and ongoing skill development of the provider community. Additional resources will be highlighted, with an emphasis on exploring, using and sharing these resources with others.
Each session in the series builds on information from previous sessions to assist the participant to develop a comprehensive and holistic approach to supporting individuals with ASD.
January 30: Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorder
February 27: Communication
March 27: Sensory
April 24: Emotional Regulation and Puberty
Each session is 3 hours in length and will be repeated twice on the scheduled day.
Session times each day:
9 AM – 12 Noon (Registration begins at 8:00AM)
1 PM – 4 PM (Registration begins at 12:00PM)
Participants will register for the entire series (4 sessions). There is NO option to register for an individual session(s). However, participants will be able to select the preferred time for each session which may vary session to session.
