Online Safety for Autistic Children/Youth Virtual 1-hour POPARD Family School Liaison Workshop

Research indicates that autistic young people seek greater online engagement. However, the literature also states that autistic children/youth may experience increased risks in online environments due to challenges related to social communication, pragmatic language, and vulnerability to cyberbullying. This session will:
Provide and overview of developmentally appropriate resources to share with children/teens to create awareness on the importance of online safety
Review how parents can partner with their children/youth to implement online safeguards for websites and popular games/apps
Explore additional considerations for the online realm of sexual health and safety.

Audience: This training is primarily intended for parents and families of students who are on the Autism spectrum, however educators and other professionals may attend
