Online Safety for Autistic Children/Youth
Virtual 1-hour POPARD Family School Liaison Workshop
December 16, 2025 (3:30-4:30pm)

Research indicates that autistic young people seek greater online engagement.  However, the literature also states that autistic children/youth may experience increased risks in online environments due to challenges related to social communication, pragmatic language, and vulnerability to cyberbullying. This session will:
  • Provide and overview of developmentally appropriate resources to share with children/teens to create awareness on the importance of online safety  
  • Review how parents can partner with their children/youth to implement online safeguards for websites and popular games/apps
  • Explore additional considerations for the online realm of sexual health and safety.   
 
About this Workshop:
  • Presented via Zoom (the Zoom link will be in your confirmation email - if you don't see a confirmation email, check your junk/spam folder)
  • Audience: This training is primarily intended for parents and families of students who are on the Autism spectrum, however educators and other professionals may attend
  • This FREE 1-hour workshop will include 45 minutes of content and 15 minutes of Q&A
