KVCAP Financial & Homeownership Education

hoMEworks Homebuyer Education Courses

Students gain valuable knowledge about the home buying process in a neutral environment. Students who successfully complete the course will earn the opportunity to receive a qualifying certificate, that may be eligible for certain first-time homebuyer loan products, or government lending programs, valid for two years.

Classes cover how to:
  • Budget for a home purchase
  • Prepare for expected costs during the home buying process
  • Select and work with reputable industry professionals
  • Understand credit and lending
  • Prepare for expected costs after becoming a homeowner
  • Protect your investment over the long term
EACH PERSON MUST REGISTER SEPERATELY

Please note: Anyone requiring a Homebuyer Education Certificate, to access downpayment assistance or mortgage products that require HUD-certified homebuyer education, must complete that education prior to closing.

In the event that class is cancelled due to low registeration, paid registered students may elect an alternate class within one year to attend. Please email housing@kvcap.org.

It is a national platform and costs $99 per person. It includes a phone conference of up to 60 minutes, following the web modules, to certify that the course has been completed.
(This course meets the educational requirements for the Advantage Grant, and Maine Housing Loans.)

Talk to your lender about applying the $99 cost of the course toward closing cost.

Framework

Framework meets the requirements for Fannie Mae HomeReady mortgages. You can complete the course online at your leisure, and receive a certificate.
(This course does not meet the requirements for the Advantage Grant, and Maine Housing Loans.)
